Tesla Model S

      Tesla's design and engineering teams have gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure that air flows smoothly above, around and below Model S to reduce drag, which in turn maximizes battery range. The smart air suspension lowers the car's height at highway speeds to reduce its frontal area. Electronically controlled vents stay closed until sensors detect that cooling is necessary. The front bumper routes air uninterrupted beneath the battery's flat skid plate and past the rear diffuser.

          The result is a seven seat sedan with the stance of a coupe and super car aerodynamics. Tesla's advanced electric power train delivers exhilarating performance. Unlike a gasoline internal combustion engine with hundreds of moving parts, Tesla electric motors have only one moving piece: the rotor. As a result, Model S acceleration is instantaneous, silent and smooth. Step on the accelerator and in as little as 2.8 seconds Model S is traveling 60 miles per hour, without hesitation, and without a drop of gasoline. Model S is an evolution in automobile engineering.

       This unique positioning lowers the car's center of gravity, which improves handling and minimizes rollover risk, and replaces the heavy engine block with impact absorbing boron steel rails. Side impacts are met by aluminum pillars reinforced with steel rails to reduce intrusion, protecting occupants and the battery pack while improving roof stiffness. In the event of an accident, eight airbags protect front and rear occupants, and the battery system automatically disconnects the main power source. Should the worst happen, there is no safer car to be in than Model S.

        Zero profile door handles Model S door handles are a work of art. When a key is in close proximity, they automatically extend. When no longer in use, they retract into the body of the car, creating a seamless surface for air to pass over. Fuel door hidden in plain sight. Scan the streamlined body panels and you'll discover that Model S lacks a fuel door. Approach the driver's side taillight with a charging connector and the hidden charge port automatically opens. The charging connector cannot be removed until Model S is unlocked.

Proton Suprema S

        Now though, the Proton Suprima S has been moved upmarket and is aimed at the mid-sized hatchbacks  the Golf, Focus, 308 and the like. The new Proton hasn’t just changed its gun sights in class and price, it’s also trying to be a bit more sporty. With Lotus Handling, Proton gives drivers the confidence and comfort to deal with all road and weather conditions.

Front View

          The front stays much of the same, with little changed from the Preve. But hey, that has always been a handsome looking car, strutting a defiantly chiseled look. So, a minor product differentiation update was all the Suprima S needed. At least to look good. The new lower air intake covers look very cool. The simpler horizontal slats design may open up the intake more to increase the radiator’s efficiency by a stonking 14%, but it does make the innards of the car more visible. Too visible, by our view. The new LED daytime driving lights strips look awesome.The Suprima S is framed by a glossy black honeycomb grille and brilliant chrome finish.The honeycomb grille together with blacked out lower air intake creates a strong but friendly face.

Rear View

         The light play around the protruding, complex rear panel clearly shows that a lot of work has been put here. It’s an intricate design that calls upon a fair bit of interplay between seemingly stray lines and surfaces.The Suprima S appears taut and low from behind, with no way of telling that it’s ever based on a sedan. The whole design looks purposeful, like this is exactly the way it was meant to be in the first place. There’s no awkwardness present in the way the rear end dips downwards to create a clean hatchback look, and this is despite the Preve and Suprima S sharing identical rear door panels – check them; they’re the same exact doors. it’s the sedan that appears to be less cohesive in terms of proportions.

          The rising window line fits the hatchback design better, the Suprima S clearly benefiting from not having an awkwardly high boot line. You’d have expected the spin-off to be the one taking compromises, but it ends up looking better than the original. Then there’s the rear LED light guides, i.e. rear night light. The rear LED Light Guide and jeweled look of the rear lamp cluster gives the Suprima S a distinctive and memorable rear view. It sure looks good.

Wheels

        Taken from the updated Inspira 2.0P are the new 17-inch wheels, now with titanium-like finish on the inside and matte diamond-cut surface on the outside. Inside

        Inside, the new trim panels and on-dash multimedia system are the main changes. The Preve CFE’s dark wood trim has been replaced with silver panels with fine cubic print, and the additions of leather upholstery and gloss black trim on the steering wheel, paddle shifter and gear knob complete the visual overhaul. The rest of the dashboard is still grey and hard in most places, as per the Preve’s. 

   The new Android-based seven-inch touchscreen system is designed by German car audio specialist Blaupunkt, and has a long list of features including GPS satellite navigation (by Lokatoo; identical to the one found in the Perodua Myvi), audio and video playback (USB, SD card or Aux input), plus Wi-Fi (a YES 4G dongle comes with the car) and Bluetooth connectivity. It uses a resist touchscreen rather than the newer and more commonly-used captive unit – a decision made to aid usability and tactility. It requires you to press on the screen to register an input, compared to a captive display’s touch-sensitive screen. Proton claims that it offers better tactile feedback, and it can be used with gloves on too.

Safety

        Everything from the ultra high tensile steel parts to the agile chassis and the various safety systems are integrated to create a car that scored a 5-star rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP crash safety rating) which surprisingly same as the new Honda Accord, Jaguar XF, MINI Countryman and Range Rover Evoque.. On a more positive note, the Suprima S does offer a suite of six  SRS airbags as standard, on top of ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution)  and BA (Brake Assist), ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and TCS (Traction Control).
